- Life Span: Born December 15, 1809, in Faversham, Kent, and died August 19, 1866, in Kensington, Middlesex.
- Public Service: Served as the Mayor of Faversham for two terms (1846–1847 and 1850–1851).
- Business Career: A key partner in the Shepherd & Hilton brewing business, he later expanded into the cement industry. In 1852, he pioneered the commercial production of Portland cement at the Faversham plant and later constructed a major plant at Upnor, Kent.
