Antique Gothic Revivalist Diamond Engagement Ring

A privilege to wear: a scarce and very beautiful antique Diamond engagement ring in a Gothic Revival mood and dating to the mid 19th century. Quietly contemplative, the gentle glimmer of the olden hand cut Diamond is fascinating, and we particularly love the nod to the Medieval in the scalloped belcher setting to the gem and deeply carved shoulder ornamentation which reflects designs seen in ecclesiastical buildings. A very special creation which was made by an artisan Goldsmith of solid 18ct yellow Gold, it is beautifully tapered and has a very special warm and familiar feel on the hand; a hand made one-off this ring is for careful and reverential wear to preserve her further down the years...

The old hand faceted natural Diamond is imperfectly perfect; beautifully white and glittery material but within that there are natural Carbon inclusions to the edges (hidden under the claws) and imperfections including abrasions to the upper surfaces which by modern day criteria would be judged negatively, but in our eyes this gem which formed over a billion years ago retains its natural characteristics and interest. Diamond Weight: Judged in the setting as around 0.40ct

Metal: 18ct Gold (marked 18CT with a much later workshop stamp)

Ring Size: 'R' or '8.5' as is but easy to alter to suit by a few sizes
