Circa 1870's, a most lovely and fancy pair of historical revival styled drop earrings cleverly constructed with 9ct Gold laid over hollow baubles to capture the (verry fashionable at the time) archaeological mood seen in jewels shown at museum exhibitions.
Jewellers at the time relearnt the techniques of the ancient Etrurians in order to create jewels to fulfil the desire of an eager and well-to-do public to imagine themselves as historians who appreciated such things.
A striking design, they also move in a really pretty way when worn, for a fab and quite cute antiquarian vibe! Best worn when studying in the library...
Metal: the wires are of 9ct Gold and the body is of base metal overlaid with 9ct Gold
Measurements: they measure 3.8cm from the top of the wire.
Please note there are a couple of little sections to the Gold casing which have losses, but due to the faceted shaping these are only seen on close examination.
Most of our rings can be adjusted to fit for free, this can be done on purchase by making a note in the order form if you know the size, or at a later date if it is a gift.
